It has been a monthly routine for us women to groom ourselves and take out whatever hairs that seems disturbing, especially on our legs, arm pits and face. But sometimes, it can be a hassle, a boring cycle that we just can’t avoid. So there are two options, either hire a beautician to do it or, remove the hair permanently.
The Good News
Removing hair permanently means only one thing, which is laser treatment. Don’t let the term laser scare you in any way! Instead, there are many benefits of laser treatment for hair removal. Unlike the normal hair removal routine we ladies do, laser treatment does not leave the targeted area dark or rough.
Some ladies have skin sensitivity when it comes to shaving or waxing. The treatments leave the targeted area dark or creates a breeding place for fungus. Laser methods eliminate the option of such problems. It also can be used at complex body parts like the face and bikini line where the layer of skin is thin and hard to wax without causing irritation respectively. Laser sessions are decided mostly depending on how frequent your hair grows back after a normal shave or wax. Some people have their hair permanently stop growing after just two to three sessions while others find it work after eight sessions.
The Procedure
So, what actually happens before, during and after a laser treatment procedure? Like any other process, the first thing is to get hold of a certified and well experienced dermatologist. What she or he will do is, run some test to determine the texture of your skin, the color of the hair, and the targeted area you wish to remov. Once that is confirmed, the technician will advise you on a few do’s and don’ts to avoid before you come back for your removal sessions.
Before the procedure starts, you will be advised not to do your own hair removal for up to a month. This is because, the laser treatment targets the roots of the hair and if it isn’t there, the session may take a longer time to finish and may give out poor results as well. Next, during the procedure, the technician and you will have to wear protective eye glasses since the laser has a bright light. It is this light that is shown on the targeted area that gives out a heating ray to weaken the roots of the hair to slowly decease in nature and stop growing. Depending on the target area, each session has a different time frame. The face part may last for about thirty minutes while the hair removal for the legs can take up to an hour. Once the procedure is over, the next treatment will be in the next four to six weeks. After the session, other things to avoid is being under the sun too long or you may get blisters. Yes, of course each session does leave a burning sensation to the skin, but keeping it hydrated, cool and moisturize at all times will help heal faster.
The Bad News
Well actually there isn’t much bad news of permanent hair removal treatment that involves laser. And side effects are really low, depending on how you take care of your skin after each sessions. The time frame between each session is long and in between waiting to visit the dermatologist, there are many things you have to avoid and also take care of, as mentioned earlier. In extreme rare cases, laser treatment has caused skin irritation or scars. That is why, going to a certified dermatologist will help to eliminate the doubt of whether your skin is suitable to do a laser treatment or not.
Besides the treatment itself, cost of each session is also something that needs to be considered. Unlike traditional hair removal methods, laser treatments can cost a huge amount of money. A session can be between 240$ to 300$ and depending on how many you will need until you see results. But when you think long term on how much it benefits in the far future, then optioning to remove hair permanently using laser treatment is the best answer.
